At Elephant Beach, about 15 minutes from Patong, you can swim and take photos with the elephants, and a professional photographer can be hired for an additional charge.
At the Elephant Sanctuary you spend time with the elephants and join a variety of activities, including feeding them, playing with them in the mud, entering the water with them and helping prepare their food. Elephant riding is prohibited inside the sanctuary, which follows strict animal-welfare standards.
The activity can be booked on its own or combined with a Phuket island tour.
